REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE
Jokingly, but with all seriousness, every member of OVPC is told that they are automatically a member of this committee. Headed by a group of dedicated volunteers the Buildings and Grounds committee truly does keep the lights on and the facilities in tip-top shape.
Not only is this group responsible for normal upkeep of our buildings, they also sponsor a church cleanup day twice a year (spring and fall) where we all get together and rake leaves, wash windows, paint rails, and take on whatever needs to be done. These work days are always topped off by a great lunch provided by the Womens Circle.
Every day one reads about a break in to a home or business and sometimes a church. A group of dedicated members of our church conduct daily security checks of OVPC facilities and grounds. The members of the security group inspect the church Sunday through Saturday. This loyal band of ten inspectors and three substitutes take weekly shifts to ensure our properties are safe. A log of the inspections is maintained in the mechanical room and is reviewed periodically for work items that are then taken care of by B&G. Emergency items are passed to B&G for immediate fixing.
Ocean View Presbyterian Church is located on a wonderful piece of property and our buildings are surrounded by gardens including shrubbery, trees and flowers. Each garden is 'owned' by members of the congregation who have taken responsibility to oversee their care and are welcome to use whatever gardening talents and ideas they may have to beautify our church grounds.
